The Westward Church of Christ had its inception in October 1952 when the Ross & Palm Church of Christ in La Marque, Texas purchased an army barrack and had it moved to Tunis Street (now Anderson Street). The congregation was then known as the Tunis Street Church of Christ with Bro. William T, Carter as minister. Over the years, the church continued to grow both spiritually and physically under the ledership of many dedicated ministers and assistant ministers. The current sanctuary at 302 N. Westward was erected in 1976-1977, and a multi-purpose activity building was later established at 502 N. Westward.
